Fall 2025 Workshop: Building Better Boundaries

Southeast Texas ACA Intergroup  Annual Fall Workshop was held October 4th, 2025.  Workshop topic was “Building Better Boundaries”.  30+ fellow travellers attended with 7 fellow travellers volunteering to put the workshop together.

Anne K started us off with an introduction to her newly developed card game that teaches safe, healthy responses to help us all maintain our own healthy boundaries in a healthy, assertive, and kind way.  We broke into groups of 4 to play the game which presents “Boundary cards” that gave a hypothetical situation, and “Solution cards” dealt out in our hands to pick our responses. The game is fun and a great way to enjoy lively recovery conversation with new friends. (Read a copy of Anne K’s Introduction to Building Better Boundaries, here!)

Mark & Laura presented a wonderful discussion of boundaries!  Mark & Laura shared a very thorough review of the challenges and rewards of boundary setting.  We received new ideas to incorporate into our own personal boundary skillset.  And we saw how our family of origin issues may have helped us develop these issues from a young age.  (Read Mark & Laura’s whole presentation here!)

Jim Be presented the final presentation of the morning, an introduction to Complex-PTSD (C-PTSD).  Jim B presented an overview of Complex- PTSD which leaves us with HUGE boundary issues frombirth and before. Other symptoms we developed include intensive dysfunction from our families of origin (and from without!), surviving prolonged crazy/insane/frightening traumas that dropped us all off into adulthood with very few skills for thriving as adults and loads of dysfunction. Then he tracked the process of recovery from C-PTSD. (Read Jim‘B’s whole presentation here!)
